1962 Wolseley 1500 Reg 6069 IL - Produced: 1957 - 1965, 103394 produced.
Owned by Noel Grainger Chairman of the Erne Vintage Club. This is one of the best-known cars around the country. Noel has rallied it for the past 20 years and has never missed our main run. If all cars and owners were as reliable as this life would be much better. Described as Elegance and Perfection yet with the traditional luxury that is within your reach, the Wolseley was a class car in its day, driven by many members of the Clergy. The Wolseley 1500 appeared in 1957 alongside its mechanically similar Riley 1.5 sister, both cars being the result of an ill-fated attempt to replace the Morris Minor. The 1500 sold steadily until 1965, passing through Series II and Series III developments along the way. The Wolseley 1500 had the usual front grill and badge treatment, along with well trimmed interiors, helped give these compact saloon cars an upmarket feel.
