1949 Lowlight Morris Reg - LI5254 Produced: 1948 - 1953, 176002 produced (all MM series models).
This car has been painstakingly restored by the late Sean Mc Gauran and Kyle Flanagan , Manorhamilton, during 2003-2005.The car is an origiinal Irish car It is the forerunner of the popular Morris Minor. The car was the first designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and originally known as the Mosquito which lead to the much loved morris minor with the wing mounted headlamps (originally to satisfy American regulations).
1954 Morris Traveller Reg - Produced: 1953 - 1956, 215328 produced.
Recently imported by Pat Harte from Manorhamilton this car is one of the few survivors from that era. In 1953 another innovative version of the Minor joined the range, an estate car known as the traveller. The traveller used a wooden frame construction for the rear bodywork, this frame was the structural section and gained the repuation for being prone to rotting away! The traveller featured split rear dors (as used on small vans) and a folding rear bench seat, which increased its carrying capacity. The traveller sold well on Series II form, but this split screen is a rare sight today. This model comes complete with smithwicks tap. This is the first outing for this car and we wish Pat many happy miles in it. Not to Bad !!
